Rodrigo Elices, 31 - also known as Rory or Roscoe - was arrested by Thai immigration officials at a luxury condo in Bangkok's hip downtown area of ThongLor last month.

They swooped after he allegedly pretended to be an Italian called Gjini to sneak into the country on a false passport after touching down in a private plane.

But a fingerprint check revealed he was allegedly an Aussie gangster at the centre of an Australian drugs probe and wanted by police on two outstanding warrants for multiple serious offences.

Now Daily Mail Australia can reveal he was once an up-and-coming amateur boxing champion who won titles with his club, the Warrior Fight Club Boxing Academy 1913.

The boxing club is run by Justin Kallu, who was shot in the kneecaps outside a Kings Cross nightclub in 2009 in the infamous 'chk-chk-boom' shooting.

Eye witness Clare Werbeloff became an internet sensation and briefly a red-carpet celebrity after a TV interview when she memorably described the brazen shooting.

'There were these two w**s fighting,' the then 19-year-old told reporters. 'The fatter w** said to the skinnier w**: "Oi bro, you slept with my cousin."

'And the other one said: "Nah man, I didn't for s***, eh" and the other one goes: "I will call on my fully sick boys, eh."

'And then pulled out a gun and went chk-chk boom!'

Mr Kallu, 27 at the time, was shot twice in the legs - but was furious that the witness became more famous than him.

He raged in an email to media at the time: 'I'm just a bit upset about the fact that I've been shot and that I almost lost my life...

'And there's this girl all over the news getting popular all because she has no brains.'

It later emerged that she had fabricated her vivid account.

Mr Kallu - who is not accused of any wrong-doing - went on to set up his boxing academy in Smithfield in Sydney's west which Elices later joined and impressed with his boxing skills.

Mr Kallu, 스카이티비 who has a diploma in sports management, helped the musclebound Elices celebrate his 27th birthday in 2019 with a post on social media.

'Love ya brother proud of you and how far you have come,' Mr Kallu said in the post.

'I'm always in your corner brother to the death! This is for the brothers that was down from Day 1 - welcome to Deathrow! God bless you always.'

They bore the club mottos, 'Defend us in battle' and 'All Glory to God'. Club t-shirts also include the slogan: 'Assyrians will rise'.

Although the alleged bikie - with short hair and neatly-trimmed facial hair - was surprisingly clean-cut in the images released by Thai Immigration Bureau, Elices has several large tattoos.

He has FAMIGLIA tattooed across his abdomen and what appear to be angel wings across his chest, while he also has a Mary Magdelene-type image inked on his shin.

Elices, allegedly also known as Elias, is additionally believed to have several Japanese art-type images on his upper thighs.

The suspected bikie chief was allegedly a key player in a Hells Angels drugs smuggling network, Thai investigators claim.

They say Australian police told them he was facing charges over importing 14kg of methamphetamine and wanted for questioning over a house fire in Kogarah.

The home was torched in October 2022, badly burning a 51-year-old man and allegedly uncovering a drug ring after detectives found 5.7kg of cocaine, $15,000 in cash and drug manufacturing equipment.

The injured man and two others were charged with drug offences, but Elices allegedly fled the country before Strike Force Raptor detectives could interview him.

He is now in custody ahead of a court appearance over the immigration charges in Thailand before he is likely to then face proceedings to deport him back to Australia.

'NSW Police are aware of the arrest in Thailand of a 31-year-old Australian man,' said a police spokesman.

'Officers attached to State Crime Command's Raptor Squad have been working with Australian Federal and Thai authorities for some months now to locate the wanted man.

'The man is currently wanted in NSW on two outstanding warrants - a revocation of parole warrant, and an arrest warrant for multiple serious offences.'

Australian Federal Police declined to comment on the arrest, but the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed it was involved in the case in Bangkok.

A DFAT spokesman told Daily Mail Australia: 'The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to an Australian man detained in Thailand.

'Owing to our privacy obligations we are unable to provide further comment.'

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Mr Kallu for comment.
